Event Details

This practical class is designed to give first-time home gardeners hands-on knowledge to successfully plant a fall veggie garden.  Includes growing tips for selected vegetables that do well in this area, building a versatile raised bed, water needs, soil mixtures, growing seedlings, pointers for purchasing healthy starts, spacing and planting calendar, protection from pests, and the value of weekly monitoring of growth. 

This presentation is FREE and open to the public. Registration is not required. 

Presenter Master Gardener Gaye Torjusen:  Gaye has 45 years of experience in growing veggies in the Bay Area.

Directions:  San Mateo Public Library, 55 W. 3rd Avenue in San Mateo (corner of 3rd Avenue and El Camino Real); parking lot available.
