Harvest for Neighbors - June 2022

The San Mateo/San Francisco UC Master Gardeners participate in a special project “Harvest for Neighbors.” Working together in gardens; applying knowledge, experience, and gardening expertise; and donating fresh produce to food pantries in the Bay Area fosters a win-win scenario for all volunteers involved. Growers who are passionate about working in the garden can feel confident knowing that their skills have made a difference as their produce is shared. With properly established guidelines and boundaries, Harvest for Neighbors creates strong feelings of connectedness and respect among all participants. Through collaboration with another organization, #eachgreencorner and hard work, sharing garden produce with others enhances the gardening experience. Pictured are SM/SF UC Master Gardeners and Each Green Corner volunteers working in a Bay Area garden to harvest apricots, plums, peaches, and lemons. The produce was donated to two food pantries.
