Start sowing in winter, for your fabulous tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, zucchini, winter squash (yep, grown in SUMMER) corn, and more! Plus your spring crops of kale, baby greens, beets, chard, etc. We will explore sowing seeds, care for seedlings, when to plant them out, how to amend your soil before planting, as well as how and when to harvest using sustainable and organic techniques. We will also review composting and how to keep your soil alive.

Presenter Lisa Putnam:  Lisa has a BS in Agricultural Economics from UC Davis, and also studied nutrition science. She currently operates a sustainable organic farm in Woodside, and is a UC Master Gardener and Master Composter. Lisa teaches both summer and winter vegetable gardening at several Bay Area locations.

Presenter Kathleen Putnam:  Kathleen is a professional organic vegetable gardener serving the Mid-Peninsula. She is an Int’l Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist, and has a degree in Environmental Horticulture from City College of San Francisco.

This class is free but pre-registration is required. Seating is limited.
