In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of growing, harvesting and using culinary herbs and edible flowers. You'll also learn how to propagate your plants from seeds, cuttings, transplants and divisions - and how to integrate your herbs and flowers in your landscapes, vegetable gardens, and containers. Tips will be shared on how to maintain your plants with sustainable methods, and how to harvest herbs to use fresh or preserve for future use. Many ideas for use will be also shared.
Co-Presenter UC Master Gardener Kathy Fleming: Kathy has been growing culinary herbs in containers and perennial landscape at her Peninsula garden for more than 30 years. She uses the herbs and their flowers, either fresh and/or dried, and loves sharing them with her friends and neighbors.
Co-Presenter UC Master Gardener Cindi Morris: Cindi has had a love affair with gardening since she was young. Her father worked for Ferry Morse Seed Company, so she had plenty of see to play with. She loves growing from seed and found it fascinating how a small seed can turn into a beautiful plant. Cindi organized Master Gardener volunteers to grow over 2,000 tomato plants for the Master Gardener Spring Market in 2015 and 2016. Cindi enjoys growing and drying herbs to use in her garden.
