Interested in making “black gold” for use in your vegetable or flower garden? Ever wonder how worms assist the decomposition or oxidation of the chemical compounds in organic matter (e.g., kitchen scraps) into plant-accessible nutrients a process called mineralization? Sound too scientific? Well don't worry! Come and learn the basics of worm composting and how easy it really can be to produce “black gold.”

Presenter UC Master Gardener Joe Lees:  Joe is a UC Master Gardener and a Master Composter who teaches compost theory and techniques at Foothill College, the San Mateo County Office of Sustainability, and at various community workshops.

This presentation is FREE but registration is required.

Registration will be available 3-4 weeks prior to the event.

Directions:  Highway 101, Holly Street exit, Redwood Shores exit, left at Shoreway Road (stop light). The first Lyngso driveway is the entry for trucks, the second driveway is for outgoing vehicles, and the third driveway is the customer parking lot. After you enter the sales office, the classroom is to your right at the end of the hallway.
