Native Plants in Two Home Landscapes
Date: November 17, 2018
Time: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Sponsor: UC Master Gardeners of San Mateo & SF
Location: Lyngso Garden Materials, Inc.
Co-presenter Master Gardener Carol Schultz: After retiring from a long teaching career, Carol took horticulture classes at Foothill College where her love of California native plants intensified. Her small home in the Willows of Menlo Park has been surrounded in natives for 10 years, and she continues to learn, as her garden matures. A Master Gardener since 2015, she is also a Master Composter.
Co-presenter Master Gardener Leslie Muennemann: Leslie is not only a Master Gardener but also a Master Composter, has five active compost piles in her yard, and has been making compost and amending her garden soil with that compost for nearly 30 years.
Description: Two master gardeners whose passions are California native plants will share their experiences planning, planting and establishing near decade-old home landscapes. One is in a riparian setting near San Francisquito Creek and Portola Valley; and the other in the originally oak woodland setting of The Willows of Menlo Park. Specific topics will include plant changes through the seasons, care for optimal habitat use, propagation and basic use of planning resources that are available on line.
