San Carlos Library Herb Garden
Status: Open to the public
In collaboration with the City of San Carlos, Master Gardeners created a pocket herb garden outside the children’s wing of the San Carlos Public Library behind City Hall.
This herb garden is a venue where we teach adults and children how to grow and care for a variety of herbs. The goal is to explore herbs by using touch, smell and taste.
The herb garden is divided into several sections: Mediterranean, Native, Latin, Mint, and Eastern.
Another feature of the garden is edible flowers, which are grown year-round, including Lavenders, Borage, Nasturtiums, Calendulas, and Violas. These edible flowers reseed each season and create a beautiful show in the spring.
Garden Tours
The San Carlos Library Herb Garden is available during Library hours. The San Carlos Native Plant Habitat Garden is next to the Library and always open. The public is invited to drop by and enjoy both gardens. In addition, guided tours and educational demonstrations are scheduled spring through fall.
